Crocheted Environments Series
My Crocheted Environments Series features a collection of crocheted soft sculptures that I meticulously designed and crafted to evoke the unique essence of the natural landscapes that inspired them. Drawing from vivid childhood memories of visiting locations such as the Redwoods, Yellowstone, the Oregon coast, and the salt flats of Utah, each piece captures the distinct textures, colors, and shapes that define these remarkable places.
To bring my sculptures to life, I returned to these locations and carefully documented their interactions with the surrounding landscape through photos and videos. The resulting footage formed the foundation of my video art pieces, which I present alongside the physical sculptures in gallery settings.
By fusing the tactile nature of crocheting with the visual and auditory elements of video art, I aim to create an immersive and multisensory experience that transports viewers to these wondrous locations, evoking a sense of nostalgia, awe, and wonder.
